I think Mother Nature is pretty awesome and I love how we can learn so much by observing our environment.
Take the seasons for example. When it comes time for the cooler months of Autumn to greet us, the trees really have no choice but to go with the flow. They don't resist change. They embrace it. They let go of their leaves when the time is right and before you know it, spring will be here and they will be getting ready to bring in the new and grow their little buds.
I think the same goes for us. If we want to grow, change and evolve, we need to let go of the past and begin focusing on the new. If you want to change a behaviour, move jobs, attract new friendships, save more money, you’re going to need to let go of your past and any old limiting beliefs.
Think of it this way; you've been busy holding a big box full of everything that makes up your life. In this box are your friends, your beliefs, behaviours, fears, hopes, values, hobbies - everything! Now, imagine you've been given another box with everything you desire. Maybe it contains a lot of the same stuff as the first one, but there are some fundamental differences inside. You're going to have to put down the first box so you can pick up the second. See where I'm going with this?
This all brings me to a little quote I read recently. "The secret of change is to focus all your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new." - Socrates
We need to be willing to step into the unknown, embrace change and know that it's the only way we grow.
